FD-200 A New Processor for Proven Fiber-optic Sensing Systems
The "Fiber Defender Series 200"' (FD-200), is the first of a new generation of Fiber-optic Intrusion Detection Systems. The FD-200 builds on the fiber-optic intrusion detection technology developed by FSI and proven in the field over several years. Advanced signal processing and automatic adaptation to windy conditions differentiate the FD-200 from earlier models. The benefit to the customer is simplified setup and maintenance and the lowest potential nuisance alarm rate of any system.

The Fiber Defender 200 Series is an alarm processor module for intrusion detection systems based on an optical fiber sensing cable that is mounted on fences, walls, rooftops or buried in gravel or under lawns. Advanced digital signal processing makes the FD-200 "smarter" than other units. In simple terms, this means that the system can do a better job of analyzing disturbances and differentiating between a real intruder and common sources of nuisance alarms such as windstorms or heavy vehicles passing nearby. For difficult applications, such as areas subject to very high winds, the FD-200 accepts input from an optional anemometer to sense actual wind speed and adjust sensing parameters accordingly. The smarter processor also makes the FD-200 easier to setup and calibrate than less advanced systems. An installer only has to do a few simple adjustments and the FD-200 handles the rest.

Why choose optical fiber security sensors?
Fiber-optic intrusion detection has some important benefits over other technologies. One is immunity to electrical interference, particularly important for installation near high voltage electrical equipment or in areas subject to lightning strikes. Another key benefit is the ability to protect large areas. FSI fiber-optic systems can be configured with single "zones" up to 6500 feet in length and are the most economical systems available for zones over 1000 feet.

Easy to interface with your total security system
The Fiber Defender Series 200 was designed to be a low cost stand-alone system or the perimeter component in a larger, integrated security system. Normally open and normally closed contact closures are provided for connection to standard alarm boxes, annunciation panels, etc. For more sophisticated applications, the FD-200 has an RS-232 port for two-way communications with a computer. The FD-200 is also fully compatible with the Fiber-optic Security Network from Fiber SenSys, Inc. The Fiber-optic Security Network can link up to 100 devices using a single optical fiber cable. This replaces many runs of alarm relay wiring in large systems and allows for two-way communications and remote calibration and setup of sensors.
