  • NEMA type 4X weatherproof enclosures
  • Anemometer (Series 200 processors only)
  • Installation & set-up equipment

Additional Equipment (not all supplied by Fiber SenSys)
  • 12 or 24 volt DC power

    Options
  • AC supply and transformer
  • Batteries
  • Solar

    Alarm Communication Connections

    Options:
  • Copper Wiring
  • Fiber-optic Security Network
  • Wireless Link
  • Hand-held calibrator (or computer required for set-up)

    Alarm Processors

    General Selection Guidelines

Select processors in NEMA-4X weatherproof enclosures with tamper switch for outdoor applications. (Some customers also specify this enclosure indoors for additional security).

    Zone Conditions
    Acceptable Processors
Select processors in NEMA-4X weatherproof enclosures with tamper switch for outdoor applications. (Some customers also specify this enclosure indoors for additional security).
    205
    220
Beginning and/or end portion of fiber cable is insensitive. Zone requires less than 6500 feet of cable. (Contact factory for longer length requirements).
    206
NOTE: FD-220 comes standard with a NEMA 2X enclosure and is designed to work with chain link/expanded metal fences ONLY.

    Fiber-Optic Security Networks

    Each Network Requires
  • FCA-185 host module
  • Input/output modules
  • FCA-180 for each Series 100 processor
  • FCA-182 for each Series 200 processor
  • FCA-184 for (up to 4) other devices with relay outputs
  • Fiber-optic cable
  • Fiber-optic connectors

    Options
  • FCA-186 relay output card(s) 16 relays/card
  • Flexible conduit
  • Installation equipment

Additional Equipment (Usually not supplied by Fiber SenSys)
  • 12 or 24 volt DC power. (5volt for FCA-186)

    Options:
  • Central computer and monitor(s)
  • Annunicator panel
  • Copper wiring
  • 9-pin RS-232 cable
  • Interface software

The Fiber-optic Security Network is a modular system that can handle up to 100 nodes. Devices may be added or removed at any time. All alarm information is directed to the host module which communicates with an annunciator panel or computer head-end system. (Relay outputs or RS-232) When a computer head-end is used, the network can remotely program Fiber SenSys alarm processors and can activate remote devices using the relay output on each FCA-184 module.

    Fiber-Optic Cable

    SC-3 Above-ground applications
Used for sensing cable, Fiber Network connections & insensitive return leads.

    SC-4 Direct burial cable
Similar to SC-3 but more rugged.

    IC-Tx
Used only for insensitive transmit leads

All fiber-optic cables supplied by Fiber SenSys are designed for military use and are much more resistant to rough handling than standard telecommunications cables. Customers should be discouraged from using other types of cable since this increases the chance of installation problems and service calls.

    Fiber-Optic Connectors
  • C-115 for SC-3 and SC-4 cable
  • C-116 for IC-Tx cable

Fiber SenSys supplies ST-type connectors manufactured by AMP. ST-type connectors from other manufacturers are acceptable but should be specified with ceramic ferrules to assure acceptable performance over temperature.

    Flexible Conduit
  • EZ-300 Flexible split conduit

All cable that is installed outdoors, above-ground should be in conduit. Fiber SenSys sells flexible split conduit to make installation fast and easy. (Use the special tool, EZ-350 for installation). EZ-300 conduit is sold in reels of 328 feet that include expansion joints and UV resistant cable ties.

    Accessories and Tools

    AN-200 Anemometer
Sold as an option for any Series 200 alarm processor. This is recommended for fence-mounted systems installed in windy areas.

CK-200 Tool Kit to install AMP ST connectors. (C-115, C-116)
Please note that this tool kit will not work with other brands of connectors. Also, tools from one manufacturer can't be used to install AMP connectors.

    EZ-350 Tool
Used to insert cables into EZ-300 split conduit.

    MC-100 Hand-Held Calibrator
Rugged input-output device used to program any Fiber SenSys alarm processor. Optionally, a DOS computer with terminal emulation software and a 9-pin modem cable can be used for this purpose.
