FD-220

FD-220 Applications and easy to install ST type crimp-on connectors

The FD-220 features adaptive wind processing for fence

The Fiber Defender 220 is the most versatile intrusion detection system on the market. The fiber-optic sensor cable detects motion, vibration, and changes in pressure. In combination with its advanced digital signal processor, it can be used for a wide variety of fences. It requires only that the fence fabric be securely connected to posts and other support members.

The advanced digital signal processor allows the installer the flexibility to adjust the system for loose, tight, heavy weight, light weight, short or high fence types. This alarm processor is able to distinguish between an intruder and other signal sources such as wind in fences, vibrations due to nearby vehicles, and other ambient disturbances.

The FD-220 can be used as a standalone system, or multiple units can be "daisy-chained" together to protect large sites. Alarm tamper and trouble signals from the standard Form "C" relays can be connected to the response center or autodialer via copper wiring, RF transmission, or on a fiber-optic communications ring supported by the Fiber Security Network modules from Fiber SenSys.

Fiber-optic intrusion detection has some important benefits over other technologies. One is immunity to electrical interference, particularly important for installations near high voltage electrical equipment or in areas subject to lightning strikes. Another key benefit is the ability to protect large areas. FSI fiber-optic systems can be configured with single "zones" over 1000 feet (over 200m) in length to provide the most cost effective solution available.

Installation and setup of the FD-220 is easier than ever. Here's all it takes:

  • Survey the site to establish the size of the perimeter and zone needs
  • Make a materials list and obtain equipment
  • Attach the sensing cable in EZ-300 split conduit to the fence
  • Mount the alarm processor, making connections to sensing cable, power supply and alarm panel
  • Adjust processor GAIN to adapt it for the fence type
  • Test for intrusion
